James (Jim) Michael Yednock, age 78, of DeForest, WI, passed away peacefully at home on December 5th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after battling pancreatic cancer. He was born in Patuxent River, Maryland to John and Esther Yednock. He was raised in Alexandria, VA, the oldest of nine children. Jim graduated from Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, and later a master's degree from the University of North Dakota in space studies. Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1971 and met his future wife, Maria Corazon, while stationed near the Philippines. Jim and Maria wed in October of 1971 in Alexandria, VA. They moved to Middleton, WI in 1975 and made their home in DeForest, WI for over 40 years. Jim spent his career in healthcare as a radiology technician. He was a lifelong athlete, playing and enjoying many sports including baseball, football, tennis, and golf. He loved gardening, earning his private pilot’s license, and contemplating the mysteries of space.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Yednock; three brothers, Robert, Chris, and Stephen Yednock; and one sister, Joan Marie Comstock. He is survived by his wife, Maria Yednock of DeForest, WI; son, James J. Yednock of Windsor, WI; daughter, Jennifer Yednock of Bishop, CA; grandson, Samuel Brieske of Bishop, CA; and four sisters, Patricia Mosely of Chesapeake, VA; Jeanette Dale (Kevin) of Fernandina Beach, FL; Karen Roose of Stafford, VA, and Theresa Yednock of Columbia, SC. Jim is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Linda Yednock of Fredericksburg, VA; Donna Yednock of Clovis, CA; and Rosa Yednock of Bountiful, UT; along with many nieces, nephews, and their families throughout the U.S.
Jim will be remembered for his jovial nature, strength, and fortitude. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. A funeral service will be held on April 11, 2026 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 623 Jefferson St., DeForest, WI at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
