Fredrick "Fred" G. Millard Sr.

Fred G. Millard Sr. was born on September 7, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He died on September 14, 2026, in Cross Plains, Wisconsin, following a long-term illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Fred was a widower. He is survived by four sons, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, three nieces, and three nephews.

He grew up in Chicago, and 30 years ago opted for the life and solitude of a tree farmer in southwest Wisconsin.

Fred enjoyed baseball, astronomy, music, hunting, fishing, crafting custom-made knives, good bourbon, and the occasional cigar. The last years of his life were spent enjoying the quiet of rural Wisconsin.

A celebration of life will be held at The Phoenix Center, 100 South Orange Street, Richland Center, on Thursday, October 8, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service will also be held in Chicago at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Chicago, Illinois.
