Fredrick "Fred" G. Millard Sr.

Fred G. Millard Sr. was born on September 7, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. He died on September 14, 2026, in Cross Plains, Wisconsin, following a long-term illness. He was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Fred was a widower. He is survived by four sons, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister, three nieces, and three nephews.

He grew up in Chicago, and 30 years ago opted for the life and solitude of a tree farmer in southwest Wisconsin.

Fred enjoyed baseball, astronomy, music, hunting, fishing, crafting custom-made knives, good bourbon, and the occasional cigar. The last years of his life were spent enjoying the quiet of rural Wisconsin.

A celebration of life will be held in Wisconsin, as well as in Chicago, dates to be determined. Information on the events will be posted on obits.cremationsocietyofmadison.com

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Chicago, Illinois.
