Bill Mellentine of Reedsburg lost his valiant battle with cancer passing away peacefully at Tivoli Healthcare in Portage on Wednesday August 11th .
Bill was born on July 18, 1951 to Eleanor and Silas Mellentine in Baraboo, Wis. Bill attended Rock Springs School and graduated from Reedsburg High School. Bill was a talented tradesman working at Blackhawk Equipment, Harmony Trailers and Christmas Mountain, where he retired after 29 plus years.
Bill enjoyed owning and working on collector cars and also was a skilled carpenter and woodcrafter, making creative items with many being donated to charity auctions. He enjoyed going on drives, checking out new places to eat, grilling for friends, helping out others and most importantly being with family.
Bill married Bonnie Burdick and they had two children, Nathan and Timothy. Bill later married Jean Tiedtke on December 31,1992. Bill and Jean enjoyed 28 years together until his passing. Bill and Jean were always together, along with their pets including his special dog Holly. Jean was incredibly supportive and by his side through his final days.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Jean, son Nathan (Mellanie), stepson Jim Meyers, grandchildren Shadoe and Zachary and great grandchildren Kaidan and Nova. He also survived by brother in law Ron and two sister in laws, Ramona and Judy (David). Additionally many relatives and friends.
Bill is proceeded in death by his parents, son Timmy, stepfather Earl Schluter, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
Services will be September 18th at 11am at St. John’s Cemetery in Rock Springs. A luncheon and celebration of life will be held after services at the Reedsburg VFW.
