William Davenport

William (Bill) Ervin Davenport passed away at the age of 86 years old on September 28, 2025 at his home in Janesville, Wisconsin.

He was born October 29, 1938 in North Freedom, Wisconsin to Walter and Francis (Kaldenberg) Davenport. Bill was the middle of 5 children.

Bill married Valene Charlesworth on June 28, 1962 in Boise, Idaho and later divorced. Bill and Val raised 3 children in Idaho and later Janesville, Wisconsin. Although divorced, Bill and Val continued to remain friends and spent many happy years attending family events and celebrating the births and milestones of their grandchildren.

Bill spent his working years in the dairy industry selling and installing milking equipment in Idaho and Wisconsin. In his retirement years he delivered busses and RVs across country.

Bill was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren and kept up on their lives and birthdays. He was always ready to show off his photos and brag about all of their accomplishments. He was very active in AA and celebrated his 39 years of sobriety and was looking forward to achieving 40 years on April 8, 2026. Bill went to several AA conventions and was often called on for speaking engagements and loved being a mentor to others. His favorite hobbies included kayaking the Snake River in Idaho and riding his motorcycle. He especially enjoyed his time riding the Blue Ridge Parkway with several family members.

Bill was preceded in death by his sister Joan Alcouffe. He is survived by his children Sherri Weiss (David), Bill Davenport Jr, Debra Gangelhoff (Paul) and brothers Robert, Ernie and Donald Davenport. He had 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A private family ceremony is planned in Idaho in 2026.
