Tommy Joe Simplot, 65, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on August 20, 2026. He was born September 13, 1960, in Leominster, Massachusetts to Claire (Simplot) Martin and Leo Simplot. Tom attended Beloit Memorial High School and later worked at Novares in Janesville.
Tom was a hardworking man who tended to be fairly quiet—unless, of course, the conversation turned to talking about the Packers. He had a deep compassion for animals, especially dogs, and truly believed a house was not a home without a dog by your side. One of his greatest joys was spending time outdoors with his dog, Runt, hiking and playing together at Big Hill Park.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Leo Simplot, who passed away on May 17, 1988.
He is survived by his daughter, Jaime DeMontigny; his grandchildren, Jasmine Rodriguez, Arianna Smith, Antoinesha Smith, and Anthony Smith; his mother, Claire Martin; his siblings, Debbie (Joe) Christner, Cindy Garcia, Karen Peck, Randy Simplot, and Lisa Streuly; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at Big Hill Park in Beloit, Wisconsin, on September 19, 2026 from 12pm – 2pm. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and remember Tom in a place that brought him happiness.
As Tom’s only child, his daughter deeply feels the years they lost and the memories they never had the chance to make. In honoring her father, she hopes his passing can serve as a reminder to others: do not let pride, misunderstandings, hurt, or the passing of time keep you from reaching out to someone you love. Build the bridge while there is still time to cross it.
