In Loving Memory of Timm James Burgess

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Timm James Burgess, who left this world on June 12, 2025, at the age of 70 after a courageous five-year battle with cancer.

Born on July 30, 1954, to Mitchell and Florance Burgess, Timm was raised in Carpentersville, IL, where he lived with his family from 1955 to 1974. He graduated from Barrington High School in 1972. Over the years, he called both Bradenton, FL, and Iron Mountain, MI, home—two communities that brought him great joy and lasting friendships.

Timm is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Phyllis Burgess (Presson), and their children: Korri (Aaron) Vogel, Jennifer (Mark) Heggen, and Melissa (Mike) Ebsch. He was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Kelsey, Owen, Ayden, Liam, Kendyl, Wyatt, and Quinn.

Family meant everything to Timm. He shared an unbreakable bond with his four brothers: Scott (Diane), Terry (Rosina), Patt (Mary), and Deen (Shirley). He is also remembered with love by his extended family: Kelly Burgess, Lonnie (Wanda) Presson, Jodie (Wayne) Cochran, Lorrie (Andy) Moeckli, and Lisa (Darrell) Jones, along with countless friends who became family through the years.

Timm retired from SilverbackHD, where he worked under the leadership of boss and dear friend Jeff Cribby. He cherished his time there and the friendships he built with colleagues who meant so much to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Florance Burgess, and his uncle, Tom Marheine.

A lifelong Chicago Bears fan, Timm never missed a game—cheering (and shouting) at the television, win or lose. In his iconic words: DAAAA BEARS.

A celebration of Timm’s life will be held on Friday, June 20th, at 6:00 PM at the Pine Grove Country Club, 1520 W Hughitt Street, Iron Mountain, MI. A second celebration will take place on October 18th at the Royal Garden Estates Clubhouse in Bradenton, FL.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Timm by wearing your favorite Bears jersey and raising a Miller Lite in his memory—just as he would’ve wanted.
