Thomas R. Clayton

March 26, 1962 — February 25, 2026

Thomas (Tom) Raymond Clayton passed away on February 25, 2026 in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and best friend Rhonda Clayton by his side. Tom was born on March 26, 1962 in Madison, Wisconsin to Donald E. and Mary L. (Byrne) Clayton.

Tom was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Rhonda (Denton) Clayton; his son Adam (Sarah) Clayton; two grandchildren Ava and Thomas; brothers Dan (Mary Lou) and Tim (Joan); and many nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mary; his brother Ken and sisters Nancy and Barbara, and brothers-in-law Jerry Jensen and Dale Prell.

Tom was known for prioritizing experiences over possessions, and sharing his time with those around him that he cared about. This happened through time spent outdoors, around his passion for sports or through his willingness to help many family and friends with DIY projects or emergency repairs. Tom enjoyed spending time outdoors, and in recent years this time was focused on his cabin up north. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, ATVing, snowmobiling and long walks with Rhonda. He was a lifelong Packer and Badger football fan, who enjoyed the games and always wanted at least one of the two teams to be competitive. Tom impacted many lives of both his family and friends, developing relationships wherever he lived or went. He cared, listened and prioritized those in his life with many considering him their best friend.

The family is deeply grateful for the care provided by Agrace Hospice in the final months of his life. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 7 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm with a service at 3:00, at Four Winds Farms, Fitchburg WI.
