Terry Jallings

November 24, 1950 — September 16, 2025

Terry Reilly Jallings, 74, of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025. He was born and raised in Madison and attended West and Memorial High Schools. He had an adventurous spirit, leaving home at 18 with a briefcase in hand, a yearning to experience life on the road, and like many of the “flower generation,” he hitchhiked his way across the country. That same spirit took him on many cross-country trips on his Harley or in his car throughout his life. His perfect day was riding his motorcycle around the Wisconsin countryside with his well-worn Gazetteer, meandering backroads, stopping to investigate picturesque small towns, parks, cemeteries, vistas, and historical highway markers.

A tile setter by trade, he was a meticulous craftsman who took pride in his creative work. He worked for various companies in the area before starting his own business, Burr Oak Point, LLC, a custom tile and stone contractor. In retirement, he became a jack of all trades for his sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Terry was a thoughtful, loyal, and generous friend, the first to offer a helping hand. He was a sociable man who enjoyed conversations with strangers, was impatient with injustice, a map enthusiast, and quick to make people groan with his unbelievably bad puns, always smiling after the groans! He enjoyed Euchre with his sisters, liked WORT Radio, and was proficient at horseshoes, poker, pool, and darts. Terry and his dogs were best friends. His unfiltered honesty could be unsettling but was ultimately refreshing.

He is survived by his sisters, Barb Albrecht of Madison, WI, Linda Jallings of Sun, Prairie, WI, Ginny Poehling of Henderson, NV; nieces, Laura (Ed) Hunt, Karen (Chris) Hausen; nephews Paul (Jess) Krueger, Mike (Marie) Poehling, Casey (Keeley Townsend) Poehling; grandnieces, Caitlin Hunt, Noelle Hausen, and Amanda Poehling; grandnephews, Sean Hunt, Kevin Hunt, Dylan Hausen, Caden Krueger, and Joseph Poehling.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Kathleen Jallings, and infant son Sam.

Terry’s family would like to thank Dr. David Niemann for his honesty and compassion, so welcome at an emotionally devastating time; the ICU staff, especially nurses Paul and Kayla; and Dr. Feyisayo Adegboye who seems to instinctively understand the healing power of kindness in this age of profit-&-machine-driven healthcare efficiencies.

Terry will always be in our hearts.

Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now”
