Terrence Franklin Haines, age 84, of Janesville, WI, passed away Monday, August 7, in New Glarus, WI.

Born March 13, 1939, in Beloit, WI, to Charles Franklin Haines and Enid Lorraine Miller Wichelt. He grew up in South Beloit attending Riverside Elementary and graduating from Balboa High School in San Francisco, CA, in 1957. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army as an MP in Korea, San Francisco, and Germany for 8 years. He married LaVerne Kobylarz (1960-1981) and then married Anne Remley (1988-2013). He spent the majority of his career in law enforcement serving on the Rock County Sheriff’s Department and later serving as Chief of Police of Delavan. He also spent many years teaching Group Dynamics at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville. He finished his career with Rock County as an AODA Counselor. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Milton College and also a Master’s degree from UW-Whitewater.

Terry enjoyed spending time with his family and was very proud of his six grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and watching western movies. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball and playing cards with his friends.

Terry is survived by his six children, Terrence Haines Jr. (Anita) of Lafayette, IN, Victoria Haines of Delavan, WI, Jeffrey Haines (Lisa) of Fort Wayne, IN, Lindsay Siekert (Ray) of South Wayne, WI, John Haines (Taylor) of Janesville, and Rachel Lemke (Derek) of Monona, WI. Also, his six grandchildren, Hannah (Chris), Holly, Olivia, Spencer, Harper, and Jack. He is also survived by his cousin, Joyce Cox of Roscoe, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Enid, and by his brother, Robert, and his sister, Joan.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, WI at 1:30 p.m.
