Steven Johnson

August 10, 1957 — April 4, 2025

Columbus, WI

Steven Mark Johnson, 67, of Columbus, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on April 4, 2025.

Steve was a proud Marine who deeply loved his country, his family, and his friends. If you were lucky enough to call him a friend, you knew he’d always be there for you—loyal to the core. He had a great sense of humor, a big heart, and an even bigger love for the Chicago Bears. He always said he bled navy blue and orange.

He spent many years on the road as a truck driver, enjoying the solitude of the highway and the sense of freedom that came with every mile. That same love for the open road carried over to his Harley, where he found peace in the wind—mostly through his beloved beard.

Steve also appreciated the simple things: a good glass of bourbon, a ride on a sunny day, and a solid conversation with someone he cared about.

He is survived by his sister Lisa Johnson; stepsister Sue Betz; niece Angela (Derek) Hamilton; nephews Aaron (Cecilia) Johnson and Dan (Victoria) Kleven; and many great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Benson and Robert Johnson; his brother, Craig Edward Johnson; and his stepsister, Shelley Hafner.

Steve will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, humor, and love for the people and things that mattered most to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
