Stella G. Kauffman

Stella Kauffman, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20th 2018. Stella had been residing at KindredHearts of Cottage Grove Assisted Living in Cottage Grove Wisconsin. Stella was born on March 8, 1924 in Gary Indiana, the daughter of Harriet and George Kirshy. She attended Beloit High School. Stella was involved in the Beloit Wi. community for most of her life. Her stepfather, Arest John and his brother, Gust John, owned and ran the former Beloit Grill restaurant. In 1941, Stella married Chester (Chet) Christensen. After Chet’s death in 1968, Stella bought a home on Moore St. and worked at The Diana Shop, McNeany’s and Joseph’s Department stores in downtown Beloit Wi. In 1974, Stella married Robert Kauffman. Stella attended the Faith Baptist Church and People’s Church in Beloit Wi. Stella was known by her friends and family as a “warrior of prayer” and has lead many people to Christ throughout the course of her life. Stella loved to spend time with family, sing hymns and read the Bible. She loved animals and her favorite bird was the cardinal. Stella is survived by her daughter, Caroll (John) Larsen of Madison, WI, granddaughter, Noelle (Sandra Riley) Larsen of Madison, Wi, grandson, Brian Larsen of Lisle IL, great granddaughter, Emily Larsen of Lisle IL and great grandson, Ryan Larsen of Warrenville IL. Survivors also include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, sister, Winifred Heinz, husband, Chester Christensen and husband, Robert Kauffman. Private interment will be held at a later date at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit Wi. The Cremation Society of Madison assisted the family with arrangements. The family of Stella Kauffman would like to thank KindredHearts of Cottage Grove and Agrace Hospice Care for their dedication in providing care for Stella.
