Shelly Lynn Kennedy

Shelly Lynn Kennedy passed away on Wednesday, May 13th, 2026 at age 53 in Madison, WI. Her loving family was present with her at UW Health University Hospital. A Celebration of Life gathering was held at Nakoma Golf Club on Sunday, May 17th, 2026.

Shelly was born August 10th, 1972 in Traverse City, MI. She graduated from St. Francis High School in Traverse City in 1990. Shelly received a BS in Statistics from Michigan Technological University followed by an MBA from the University of Michigan. Her varied career as a was mainly concentrated on financial and statistical analysis within the medical research field.

Shelly was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. She excelled in snow skiing, waterskiing, softball, golf and hockey. She has a passion for hockey and played on teams in Houghton MI, Ann Arbor, MI and Madison WI and served in the roles of president and treasurer on behalf of teammates. She was the founder and first president of Nakoma Women’s Golf League and joyfully enjoyed her athletic pursuits.

She is survived by sons, Finnian and Lochlan Kennedy of whom she was exceptionally devoted and proud. She is also survived by Finn and Loch’s father, Jim Kennedy. She is survived by her mother, Judi Cobb of Venice, FL. Shelly was preceded in death by her father, Dick Cobb. She is survived by her sister, Renee Cobb of Centreville, VA.

It is notable that Shelly loved animals and had recently signed up as a volunteer at the Dane County Humane Society. She will be forever in our hearts and dearly missed but always remembered.
