Roy P Sandmire

Sun Prairie - Roy P Sandmire age 67 passed away peacefully at home with his devoted wife by his side on Tuesday August 25, 2026. He was born on May 24, 1959 in Madison, WI. Roy graduated from Madison East High School in 1977 and attended MATC.

Roy married his best friend and soulmate Cheryl Davis on November 3, 1979 in Madison, WI. They built a home in Sun Prairie and shared a life together filled with so much love, laughter and fun adventures.

He worked in the Cabinetry business for 41 years, starting with building, supervising, and then designing and sales. Roy has been retired for 8 years, in retirement he continued to work on creative wood working projects and enjoyed giving them to others to make them smile.

Roy was very charismatic and had a natural ability with people, he conversed easily with others making them feel comfortable and with his unforgettable sense of humor made them laugh often. He had a fun, playful side and was always more concerned about others than himself.

In addition to wood working, over the years, Roy has enjoyed motorcycle riding, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling, snowmobiling, ATV trail riding, cabin time, reading, walking, gardening, love of music and especially spending time with family and friends.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Cheryl “Gonzo” Sandmire (Davis), his brothers Rick Sandmire and Jeff Sandmire (Cindy), his mother-in-law Annjeannette Haack, his brother-in-law Norm Davis (Kim) and sister-in-law Jamieann Braatz (Joel), many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Auta “Art” and Valerie Sandmire, brother Nels Sandmire, father-in-law Ronald Davis and brother-in-law Allan Davis.

Roy had a great smile, touched many lives and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
