‘ROUP’ Fred Holmes passed away on Wednesday, July 14 at the age of 74. He is survived by his sister Kayann, Niece Jill, and Nephew John.
Private services were held for the family.
Fred’s family would like to extend special thanks to the dedicated staff at Agrace Hospice Care, and the compassionate staff at Prairie Gardens Assisted Living.
Roup was a colorful Scots/Irish character, storyteller and collector of many unique things. He hitchhiked across the country with friends in his younger days, and had many different types of vehicles throughout his years. He was a jack of all trades and could tell you about almost anything and everything, even if the truth was stretched a bit. Roup liked children and animals that always migrated toward him. His interest with cowboys, Indians, gangsters and mysteries never ceased, and he was an avid book reader who liked biographies and history. Music, movies, pool, and cars were all a big part of his life. Roup loved the Wisconsin Dells and considered it his home for many years.
His charming personality could draw in the young and old alike, and his dark sense of humor could lighten the saddest person’s problems in his presence. He passed peacefully and will be vividly remembered by many who knew Roup, with their own story to tell.
