Robert William Paydon passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the age of 69.
Bob was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on October 10,1952; the youngest son of Colin James and Irene Elizabeth Paydon. A graduate of Dysart Geneseo High School in Iowa, he attended the University of Iowa majoring in psychology and was a member of the Old Gold Singers. After college he spent time on the west coast driving trucks and enjoying nature, later returning to Iowa to work on the family farm.
Bob was united in marriage to Alona Aebersold on June 21, 1981, at the beautiful Hickory Hills Park in LaPorte City, IA. They eventually settled down in Stoughton, WI, where Bob’s love of music and mechanics led him to pursue a career as a piano technician. Bob and Alona were blessed with two sons - Evan Forrest and Sequoia Austin. The family’s open and giving lifestyle nurtured a community in Stoughton where all were welcome in their home.
Bob was a free spirit and individual thinker. He had a kind and gentle soul with a special soft spot for dogs, most of all his best friend, Satchmo. He had a big, beautiful voice and often sang while playing his guitar. He was an avid fan of sports, especially baseball. Bob could tune an umpire as well as he could tune a piano. Bob loved his sons fiercely and was immensely proud of them. His musical skills live on in Evan, and Coy carries on his tradition as a loving father.
Bob will be deeply missed by his two sons, Evan Forrest (Silvia Brautigam) of New Orleans, LA and Sequoia Austin (Jennifer Edison) of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Silas, Jordan, and Aubrey. He is also survived by his brother, Colin James (Jim) Paydon (Linda) of Isanti, MN; sisters, Mary Austin of Ames, IA, Ruth (Bob) Chittenden of Cedar Falls, IA, and Susan Young of Gurnee, IL.
