Robert "Tommy" Charles Thompson

March 29, 1942 — August 12, 2019

Robert Charles Thompson, 77 Sun Prairie, WI passed away on Monday, August 12th in Sun Prairie. Bob "Tommy" was born in Minneapolis, MN to Robert and Inabelle Thompson on March 29th, 1942. He attended school in St Louis Park, MN and Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. On Sept 24th, 1966 he married Judith "Judy" Warmelin at Westwood Lutheran Church in St Louis Park, MN. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before her passing. He was a friendly face and voice to everyone he met and in and around the community of Sun Prairie where he served the people as an insurance agent for State Farm. Smile-ready and hand-extended, "Hi, Bob Thompson, nice to meet you!". He truly was a "good neighbor" through and through! Everyone knew and loved Bob! His main passions were boats, cars, motorcycles, and his lawn. He spent most of his summers in his boat out on the Madison lakes, cruising around on his motorcycle, or working his beautifully manicured lawn & gardens to perfection. He'd end the day grilling something fabulous for everyone! In the remainder of his free-time, you'd often find him tinkering around the house, watching his favorite television programs, testing out his newest gadgets, or in his home woodworking shop. He was an expert at fixing everything in and around the house! He also had a tremendous gift and passion for woodworking. He crafted and created so many beautiful furnishings and gifts, of which his wife Judy exquisitely painted. Additionally, he could be found hanging out with "the guys" down at one of his buddy's shops, hunting, fishing, spending time with his beloved shelties (Bow & Star). He naturally loved animals and people unconditionally--it's a trait he'll always be remembered for! Tommy is survived by his daughter Lisa Searcy of Janesville; sons James (Tracy) Thompson of Madison, WI; Michael Thompson of Milwaukee WI. Grandchildren Breanna Searcy, Adeline and Annalise Thompson. Cousin Allison (Bud) Gentle. He was predeceased by his wife, Judy; infant son Stephan; his parents and two triplet siblings. A memorial service will be held on Aug 24th at Sheehan Park - West Pavilion across from the Library in Sun Prairie from Noon-4. A private burial will be held at Nicholas Cemetery in Bradley MN next to his wife, Judy. The family would like to thank his caregivers from St. Mary’s Hospital, Belmont Nursing Home, Faith Living Center, and AGrace Hospice. THANK YOU ALL! He is now in his heavenly forever home with our Lord. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
