Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Robert Bruce “Rob” Slack passed away at home in Monona, WI on March 30th, 2025.
Rob Slack was born on July 10th, 1944 and raised in Pekin, IL. He was the son of Clarence and Lois (Pierson) Slack. Rob graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1968 with a degree in history. From there, Rob committed his life to his career in the Air National Guard retiring in 1996. Rob loved his time at the Air National Guard and the people who worked with him. Having flown many aircraft, Rob always said his favorite plane to fly was the A-10 Warthog.
Rob loved fishing on Lake Michigan, travel with Renee and spending time with his family and friends. Rob and Renee were married on March 9, 2001, Punta Rossa Beach, Florida.
Rob has two daughters, Kelly and Jacqueline. After Rob’s marriage to Renee, he added one more daughter, Rachel. Rob’s greatest addition to his family were his two grandchildren…. Tanner and Annie.
Rob’s best time was spent with his grandchildren, Tanner and Annie. Grandpa loved fishing with Tanner, watching Tanner play football and throw discus/shot put. Tanner made his grandpa so proud, even after Tanner declared he was taller. Grandpa loved going to Annie’s swim meets. Swim meets added lots of excitement to our week. Grandpa always said that Annie was his favorite girl. Tanner and Annie made grandpa so proud and added incredible joy to his life.
Rob is survived by his wife Renee Slack, daughters Kelly & Jacqueline Slack and Rachel Maske; his two grandchildren Tanner and Annie Wolf; brothers Jim Slack, Steven (Ellen) Slack, sister-in-law Sherill Slack and numerous other family members that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Lois Slack and brother Jerald Slack.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Veterans Administration, St Mary’s Hospital, Agrace Hospice Care and Cornerstone Caregiving for their care of Rob and support to the family.
Rob’s wishes were for no services after his passing. He asked that everyone remember him as the person he was during his lifetime. In lieu of memorials, Rob asks that you do an act of kindness.
