Richard Raymond Neerland

Richard “Rick” Neerland, Age 60, of Deerfield, passed away on July 14, 2022 after a hard-fought and courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 9, 1962 to Lyle & Elsie Neerland. Rick raced for many years at Jefferson Speedway in the International division’s #24, where he earned his nickname, “Tricky Ricky”. He loved camping, NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, and country music. He will always be remembered for his genuine caring for others, carefree attitude, and his gift of conversation {whether he knew you or not}. He was always filled with quick witted one-liners, sarcastic jokes, and hilarious pranks that were well received…{usually}! He would do anything for anyone and would do anything to make those around him smile and laugh. He was a father first and foremost to Jaimee Neerland who he is survived by, and he couldn’t have been more proud of, along with his puppy-son Titan. He is also survived by his step-children: Dana {Nick} Otterback, Tony {Jen} Peltonen, Cassie Monday, Stephanie Monday, and Sam Monday; his father, Lyle Neerland; sister, Sandy {Bill} Swain; his brother Lyle Neerland Jr, as well as his many close & dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene Neerland; mother, Elsie Neerland & too many four-legged fur babies. A special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at Carbone Cancer center & Agrace Hospital.
