Richard Benkowski

Richard Allen Benkowski (64), passed away unexpectedly on 6 Apr 2026. The youngest son of Lewis & Florence Benkowski, he was born 20 Aug 1961, baptized at St Lawrence Catholic Church and graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisc Rapids. Following graduation, he attended schooling at UW Stevens Point, with his focus on diesel mechanics. He was employed for some years as a site mechanic for environmental well drilling operations around Wisconsin, and has been employed as a truck mechanic for Waste Management of Madison, WI for approximately the past 20 years, up to the time of his death as he was preparing for work. Richard was an avid bicyclist along many trails throughout the Madison area & was also a life-long bachelor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by (3) older brothers: Harry, Frank & Kenneth. He’s survived by his sister Suzanne Koehler (Daniel), Skandia, MI., his brother Bernard (Mickey), Wisc Rapids, and his niece Sarah Belts (Jeffrey), along with their two boys Samuel & Lucas. A Mass & celebration of life will be planned by the family at a later date.
