Randy was born in Madison, WI, and passed away at age 59. Randy was a proud Navy veteran based in China Lake from 1983-87, where he spent most of his time on the Kitty Hawk ship.

If you knew Randy, you knew he had many loves in his life, especially his love of Mexico. He would answer the phone “Laredos” and always say “adios” as you were saying goodbye. He looked forward to his vacation to Mexico every year.

Randy was an avid hunter and enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada with his friends. He loved his Wisconsin sports teams and was a season ticket holder to the Badgers and Packers.

In his younger days, you would catch ‘Rockin Randy’ DJ’ing at the Sports Pub or other local venues on the weekends. Randy’s love for music continued throughout his life. He enjoyed going to concerts, watching live local bands, and anything to do with REO Speedwagon. He had a knack for conversing with random people and meeting people everywhere he went.

Randy married Shelly Robertson in 1984 and had two children, Ryan and Miaya. He ran a successful HVAC business from 2005 until 2021, when he was diagnosed with ALS.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and his uncle, John. Randy is survived by his wife, Shelly; sisters, Debra and Brenda; children, Ryan and Miaya; his mother, Joan; his grandchildren, Violet, Cooper, and Grayson; and many loving family and friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the VA, UW hospital, and Agrace for making such a difficult time a little easier through your kindness and compassion. You went above and beyond the call of duty.

A private family gathering will be planned for the immediate family. Cards and memorials can be sent to:
