Peter Grandstrand, 52, of McConnell, IL passed away on March 7th, 2025, at Waunakee Valley Memory Care after a brave battle with brain cancer. He was born on September 10th, 1972, in Shafer, MN to Mark Grandstrand and Cheryl (Thomas) Grandstrand. He attended both Orangeville High School and Highland Community College obtaining an Agriculture Degree. Pete was a volunteer fireman for over 20 years, serving both Cedarville and McConnell Fire Departments. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and was an avid Vikings fan, but most of all, enjoyed working within the agriculture field as a dairy herdsman and doing field work. He was last employed at Obert Farms, Dakota, IL.
Survivors include his brothers, Jon Grandstrand, Tony Mollner and his sister, Michelle Mollner, along with his ‘Ma’ Cheryll (Kargel) Grandstrand and nephew, Drake Mollner. He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Grandstrand, father, Mark Grandstrand, and mother, Cheryl Thomas.
Thank you to his community of friends who have supported Pete, especially these past few months through prayers, financial support and / or visiting him. It meant a lot to him to see so many friends at the benefit this past December at the Cedarville Fire Department and one of the memories he was able to hold onto. Friends have shared how they’ll miss his wave as he would drive by and his laugh and he will be greatly missed by so many.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 29th from 2 to 6pm at The Ville Golf in Orangeville, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory.
