In Loving Memory of Maureen Lee Juggan (Schaus)

With heavy hearts and so much love, we say goodbye to Maureen Lee Juggan (Schaus), of Blanchardville, Wisconsin, who passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Maureen was born on September 10, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, where she grew up with four brothers and two sisters. As the oldest girl in the family, she carried that natural “mother hen” spirit with her throughout her life. Caring for others was simply who she was.

Maureen was a devoted mother to her five children, Tom, Debbie, Jamie, Kristie, and Michele. She worked hard and did everything she could to raise and protect her children in the city. As life in Chicago became increasingly difficult, Maureen made the courageous decision to move her family to Blanchardville, Wisconsin, seeking a safer and more peaceful life for her children.

Family was always at the heart of Maureen's world. Her home had an open-door policy, and family and friends were always welcome. She became “Mom” or “Ma” to many of her children's friends, offering a listening ear, a warm hug, a good conversation, or, when necessary, a loving reminder to straighten up and do better. She had a way of making people feel cared for, accepted, and at home.

Maureen did not have the easiest life, but she faced its challenges with incredible strength and determination. She was fiercely independent, hardworking, and protective of the people she loved. She spent her life doing whatever was necessary to support her family and give them the best life she could.

Maureen also had a deep love for dogs. Over the years, many beloved four-legged companions shared her life, but her most recent companion, Copper, held a particularly special place in her heart. She loved him immensely, and until her health no longer allowed it, she could often be found walking Copper through the park in Blanchardville. Their bond was a beautiful reflection of the love and loyalty she gave so freely.

Maureen was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Suttell; father, Orville Schaus; stepfather, Norman Suttell; brothers Tom, Jim, John, and Chuck Schaus; sister Kathy Menser; and her two sons, Tom and James Juggan.

She leaves behind her beloved sister and best friend, Pat Szabo; her daughters Debbie (Jerry) Padulla, Kristie Rivera, and Michele (Ben) Burreson; grandchildren Corey, Cody, Krin, Reed, Lily, Olly, Griffin, James, and Adre; great-grandson Colt; her faithful companion, Copper; and countless family members and friends whose lives were touched by her love.

Maureen's greatest legacy will not be measured by the things she owned or the challenges she faced, but by the people she loved and the lives she touched. Her open door, generous heart, fierce protectiveness, laughter, hugs, and occasional words of wisdom will remain with all of us who were fortunate enough to know her.

Rest peacefully, Ma. You gave so much of yourself to the people you loved. We will carry your love with us, always.

There will be no formal funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced. Those who wish to remember Maureen are welcome to keep her and her family in their thoughts and prayers. Your memories of Maureen, and the love you shared with her, are a beautiful way to honor her life.
