Martin Ilmars Dargevics

March 21, 1955 — May 3, 2024

Martin Dargevics died peacefully with his wife Carolyn by his side on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, WI. Martin had suffered for years with Myelofibrosis which, over time, caused many other system failures and multiple health issues. However, he succeeded in having an adventurous, fulfilling life with his wife of 24 years, Carolyn King Dargevics.

Martin was a first generation American born on March 21, 1955, to Arija and Viktors Dargevics in Racine, Wisconsin. Martin graduated in 1973 from Horlick High School, Racine, and was a keyboardist and singer for a rock band. He was employed as a videographer for Channel 8 and then went on to UW Parkside where he earned his engineering degree. In his free time, he wrote and recorded easy-listening jazz and made an album called Meditative Milieu which was used by many therapists and doulas for their patients and is available on Amazon.

Connecting with their musical interests and collaboration, Martin and Carolyn were married in Appleton, WI, in November 2000, and became world travelers and house-flippers. Their combined love of performance extended into many venues including classical music festivals in Europe, cabarets, and choirs. Never allowing dull moments, they both ventured into art where Martin sold his abstract acrylic paintings and Carolyn sold her sculptures throughout the Midwest. Both are honored to have multiple pieces of their artwork on display at Epic in Verona, as well as in hospitals and private homes.

Martin is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; his adult stepdaughter, Holly Scheuren; Holly’s spouse, LB Burt; grandchildren, Maia and Amara; and his former son-in-law, Steve Fisher.

Martin and Carolyn would like to thank Dr. Robert Hegeman, Dr. Kevin McAllister, Dr. Dai Yamanouchi, and Dr. Robert Terbrack at UW Health, and the patient care teams at UW Health, Meriter Hospital, and Agrace for their kindness and support.

The Cremation Society of Madison is assisting the family. There will be no funeral or visitation per Martin’s wish.
