Mark Blizel passed away peacefully at St Mary’s hospital after losing his long fight to cancer. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Steckelberg (the brat); his son-in-law, Todd Steckelberg; his sister, Linda Schaefer; his brother-in-law, Dan Schaefer, and his Door County siblings; Peter, Paul, Hermie and Mary.
Mark was a Viet Nam Veteran and extremely patriotic to the United States. 9/11 was one of the saddest days of his life.
Mark was employed and retired from Coca-Cola after 32 years and loved the people he worked with, but frowned upon those who chose to drink Pepsi in his presence.
Mark was an avid golfer and was able to achieve five hole-in-ones. He was the President of the Yahara Hills Golf Association and was passionate when it existed. He loved everyone he golfed with and loved the beers with his compadres at the 19th hole even more.
He passed too early and my heart truly aches with him in no longer in our life.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer.
If you would like to contribute monetarily in his memory, please send memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society.
