Peggy was born on September 16, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI to parents, Rose (Bernarde) and Allen Schroeder. She grew up with her three brothers Thomas (Tom), William (Bill), and Dennis Schroeder. She was married to Lee Dufek for over 20 years and lived in Howard with their two children Daniel Dufek and Joanne (Dufek) Klaas. Peggy returned to college in her 40s and graduated with a medical assistant degree and worked for Green Bay area health insurance companies for the next several decades until she retired.
Her favorite things to do were to vacation with her family at Ada Lake and lavish time and affection on her grandchildren, Sophia and Jack, and her grand dog, Bailey.
Peggy is survived by two children Daniel Dufek and Joanne Klaas; two grandchildren Sophia and Jack Klaas; son-in-law Jason Klaas; three brothers Tom, Bill, and Dennis Schroeder; sister-in-law Sandra Schroeder; many nieces and nephews Mike, Tammy, and Marleena Schroeder, Lori, Bryan, Mira and Griffin Johnson, Scott, Rhonda, Tyler, and Rachel Schroeder, Mark, Jill, Mitchell, and Jacob Schroeder, Jason, Amy, Evan, and Elise Schroeder, Adam, Kelly, Ava, Andon, and Brenan Schroeder, and Katie and Alberto Bombardier, and very good friend Sharon Clements.
Peggy is preceded in death by two children Terry and Richard Dufek; parents Rose and Allen Schroeder; former spouse Lee Dufek, sister-in-laws Barbara and Laurie Schroeder; and nephew David Schroeder.
Thank you to everyone at Interim HealthCare of Madison for providing exceptional hospice services but especially thank you to Nurses Amanda and Erin, Chaplin Gill, and Social Worker Ally for their constant compassion and care during her final weeks of life. Peggy was comfortable and with her family who love her.
A celebration of Peggy’s life led by Pastor Larry Yaw will be held at St. John Lutheran Church at 910 S. St. Augustine St. Pulaski, WI 54162 on Friday, February 21, 2025. Visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Service at 11:00 AM followed by lunch.
