Marcia Jean Thieling

December 18, 1953 — October 6, 2018

Marcia Jean Thieling passed away peacefully on October 6, 2018 at age 64 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Marcia is survived by her loving son, Alan Farnsworth, her brother Stan Thieling and his wife Kaileen, her sister Phyllis Klecker and her husband Michael and her nephew and nieces: Craig Thieling, Sarah Thieling, Alison Smith and Melissa Klecker. Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Cecil William Thieling and Ethel Mae Thieling (nee Currie). Marcia was a proud graduate of Macalester College as a music major. She moved to Madison for graduate school and received a Masters Degree in Special Education at UW-Madison. She later attended UW-Whitewater and UW-Eau Claire to become a School Librarian. Marcia taught Special Education at Orchard Ridge Elementary School followed by working as a School Librarian at Thoreau Elementary School. Marcia was always learning and had many interests. She was an avid nature lover, spending many summers visiting Lake Superior and Door County, as well as participating in many of Alan’s scouting outings and projects. She made greeting cards and ornaments, loved knitting, reading, gardening and cooking. Marcia inspired her former students and other teachers throughout her teaching career. She also leaves behind many beloved friends and of course her cats, Max & Ruby. She was the best friend anyone could have! Those of us who had the privilege of her friendship and love will miss her forever! Marcia received wonderful care from both the UW-Hospital Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace Hospice & Palliative Care. In lieu of sending flowers or gifts to the family, please consider a contribution to Agrace (https://www.agrace.org/donate) or the Carbone Cancer Center https://secure.supportuw.org/give/?custom=med04&group=carbone)
