Lester Gwynn Amack

August 2, 1954 — April 27, 2025

In Loving Memory of Lester Gwynn Amack Jr, 70, who passed away peacefully of lung cancer on April, 27, 2025 with his loving life partner, Cosima, by his side at his home in Madison, WI. He was born August 2, 1954 in Evanston, IL and grew up in Evanston, Hoffman Estates and Chicago, IL and Kenmore, NY. Les joined the Airforce in 1982 and, with exceptional testing results, was given training and worked as a technician on B-52s until his honorable discharge in 1986. He then went on to attend IIT on scholarship, was an exchange student in Scotland for one year, and graduated Cum Laud in 1990 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He pursued a successful career as a computer analyst/programmer, often working as an independent consultant. Les was a very talented musician on trombone, piano and guitar. In his teens and early twenties, Les had the fun experience of playing trombone in his father's dance band. In his late 50's, he ventured into owning a 40-acre property in northern Wisconsin, cutting trails through the woods, shoveling snow off roofs, and taking hikes in the forest. He was a free spirit, with a very special intelligence and sensitivity, who enjoyed a good conversation, live theatre, art, movies, reading and writing, and loved nature, his mate and his family and friends. He is survived by his loving life partner, Cosima aka Carol Sinclair of Madison, WI; mother, Lois Amack of Wauconda, IL; brother, Lee (Cindy) Amack of Houston, TX; sister, Lorrie (Wendell) Brenner of Wauconda, IL; nieces, Maya (Dylan) Nerim of Denver, CO, and Karli (Bill) Barber of Lake Zurich, IL, and nephew, Rick (Sonya) Amack of Monroe, WI; and great-grand nephews and nieces: Teydy, Hailey, Brooklyn, Kaydence & Lucas Barber, Lily & Life Amack, and Miguel Cruz. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Amack Sr, and brother, Lew Amack.
