Larry Starkweather Obituary

Larry Todd Starkweather passed away at his home in Madison, WI on March 25, 2025. Larry was born in Oconomowoc, WI on October 20, 1954 to Jean (Hornung) and Leo Starkweather. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1972 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 6 years. Larry graduated from UW Madison with a degree in business.

Larry was an entrepreneur with endless ideas and not enough time in a day to do everything he wanted. If Larry found something in life that sparked joy he found a way to share it with others. Over the years he enjoyed skiing, reading, playing cards, travel, any new adventure or challenge, good food and wine.

Larry married Sherry (Stapf) on February 22, 1975. He is survived by his wife Sherry, children: Laura Lawrence, James Starkweather, Mary Green (Nick), and Jacob Starkweather, 10 grandchildren: Reagan, Maxwell, Wesley, Giuseppe, Luella, Jessica, Becca, Katie, Anna and Libby, and 1 great granddaughter: Hadleigh.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son Christopher, his parents Jean and Leo, sisters Linda and Jeflyn.

The family is having a private funeral at St. Dennis in Madison and a celebration of Larry’s life at a later date for family and friends. We are very grateful to Agrace Hospice for their loving care for Larry in his final days. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to Agrace Hospice or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
