Kenneth Kurt

Jun 22, 1954 — Oct 26, 2026

Kenneth M Kurt, aged 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Waunakee, WI, on October 26, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness.

Born on June 22, 1954, in Madison, Ken was the cherished son of Edwin and Eileen Kurt, who predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Tom, Bill, and Jim.

Ken’s life was a testament to simplicity, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family. He graduated from LaFollette High School and shortly thereafter, embarked on a long career with Webcrafters, Inc., where he worked from 1972 until his retirement in 2004. Retirement, however, was not synonymous with rest for Ken, who continued to keep himself busy with various odd jobs. His inability to sit still was a true reflection of his vibrant spirit and zest for life. Ken’s passion for classic cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles was well-known among his family and friends. He had a knack for working on cars and took great pride in maintaining the perfect lawn, a testament to his dedication and precision. His interest in the weather was profound enough that his daughter believed he could have pursued a career as a meteorologist.

Despite his many interests, Ken’s greatest pride and joy came from his family. He was an incredibly proud grandfather to Haleigh and Kaleb, always eager to learn about the latest trends from them, showing his genuine interest and love. His daughter, Shannon, and her husband, Josh Conners, were his pillars of support and love.

Ken is also survived by his brother, Joe Kurt and his wife Pauline, his sister, Louise Kurt, and several nieces and nephews, who will all miss him dearly.

In honor of Ken’s life and love for animals, especially his granddog Barney who Ken loved and would always say “Damn is he cute” about, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Lucas Kuehn and the team at SSM Health for their dedicated care of Ken in his final years. Special thanks are also due to SSM Home Hospice for their compassionate support during his last days.

Ken lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a humble appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Dad, I will love and miss you forever. Knowing you are at peace helps my broken heart. Fly high and I know I will see you again. Love, Shannon.
