Kathryn Harch Ewens, 93, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2020 at Beehive Homes of Oregon, WI.
Kathryn was born on 2/1/27 in Virginia, MN to John and Jeanette Harch. She was graduated with a degree in Business Education from the University of Minnesota where she met William A. McGee. They married in 1949. They had 5 children before his death in 1959, whom she raised with selfless love and her special brand of wisdom. (Church every Sunday, Be home by midnight —No exceptions).
She taught 5th and 6th grade at St. John the Baptist school in Excelsior for over 20 years. After reuniting at an all-class reunion, she married Donald Ewens of Virginia in 1985. They were married for 34 years until his death in January 2019. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters and their spouses, Jane and John Weber and Rosemary and Byron Rowell.
She is survived by her children Anne McGee, William (Jackie) McGee, Mary (Tom) Wierschem, Jane (Doug) Oyen and Susan (Kent) Kollodge; her stepchildren Donald, Syd, Pat and Steve Ewens; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She loved her homes on Christmas Lake and Lake Eshquaguma; the many gatherings on Lake Vermilion, yardwork, and family events. Her beloved pontoon, campfires, late night saunas, happy hours and Christmas. Playing bridge. Gatherings around the fireplace, talking late into the night, solving world problems. Family reunions. Events that were ordinary she turned into occasions. She never gossiped and chose to see only the good in everyone and thing.
Special thanks to Gina, Josh, Andy, Kathleen and every single member and resident at Beehive of Oregon, WI. We can’t begin to thank you for the gift you gave to our family by welcoming mom into your fold with such loving care, dignity and grace. She gave all of us the gift of her smile which we know you will miss as we do.
A family Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
