Kathleen Ann Bailey

Kathleen A. Bailey, age 66, passed away at St. Mary’s hospital surrounded by her family on Monday, February 13th, 2023. She was born in Mauston, WI, on August 6th, 1956. The daughter of Bernard (Jim)James Ruland and Alice Ann Cafferty.

Kathy met her husband, Kenneth Duane Bailey, during their school days together, fell in love, got married at 18 and spent their lives together. They became world explorers, while Ken was on duty in the US Army. They traveled to Alaska, Colorado, and Germany. She worked many jobs as when they settled to their new home in Madison, WI, as a Deli Manager at Copps, Woodman’s, and Catering Manager at MATC, where she retired from and was lovingly known as Mommy. Kathy truly had a motherly care about life and genuinely cared for others. She made sure people were fed and opened her home to many friends and family who needed it. Kathy loved her Hallmark movies, computer games, playing slot machines, puzzles, going on trips with her husband, walking her dog, Freckles, and spending time with her Grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her five children: David (Conya) Bailey, Jason (Rada) Bailey, Chrissy (Matt) Buhler, Patrick “PJ” (Marissa) Bailey, Justin “JJ” (Maggie) Bailey; grandchildren: Destinee, Matthew, Kinsley, Miles, Dax, Madison, and Isabella; along with many adopted kids; siblings: Celia Harris, James (Donna) Ruland, Pam Ruland, Mary (Steve) Hankes, Donna (Ron) Kochanowski, Rose Ruland, Carol (Bob) Weinman; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Bailey; her parents, Bernard and Alice Ruland; and her brother, AJ Ruland.

Services for Kathleen will be private. A celebration of life will be held later.
