Joseph "Joe" Michael Broder, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026. A man characterized by his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness, Joe spent his life putting others before himself. He loved his family dearly and would truly do anything to see them happy.
Born and raised in West Allis, Wisconsin, it was there that he met his love, Judy. The two were married on November 5, 1966, beginning a beautiful journey that spanned 59 years of marriage, which included raising their two daughters, Linda and Sharon.
Joe’s professional life was a blend of hard work and heart. After years at Harnischfeger in Milwaukee, he followed his passion for baseball by opening his own businesses, Fan Appreciation and Waukesha Sportcards. Joe was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. He also loved playing softball and enjoyed many nights in league bowling with friends. When he wasn't on the field or on the lanes, he loved playing cards with family and friends. He also enjoyed heading north to Phelps, Wisconsin, where he would spend endless hours on Big Sand Lake waiting for that giant musky to bite.
Joe and Judy eventually packed up and made Las Vegas their home. Joe worked in security at the Bellagio from the grand opening until his retirement. In his 20 years there, he had some incredible experiences, which made for some interesting stories to share. When he wasn’t working, he was mastering the game of video poker—there truly wasn't a trick or strategy about the game he didn't know. He was always excited to share his knowledge with others. Eventually, the pull of family brought Joe and Judy back to Wisconsin where they could enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Peter Broder; his mother, Alice Kobrzycki Broder; and his brother, Paul Broder.
He is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Judy Broder; his daughters, Linda Blando (Dan) and Sharon Ganster (Jason Arbogast); his five granddaughters, Kristen, Kelly, Stephanie, Julia, and Jamie; his five great-grandchildren, Logan, Kenzie, Jade, Haley, and Skylar; and his siblings: Frank Broder, Theresa Kantola (Bob), and Andrew Broder (Helen).
The family wishes to express a huge, heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Platinum Communities in Columbus, Wisconsin, along with Generations Hospice. Your dedication, care, and kindness to Joe and all the residents meant the world to the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
