JoAnn Clark (nee Benish) of Marshall, 77, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, on Sunday, July 30, 2023, with her husband and sons at her side. JoAnn was born February 12, 1946, in Hillsboro, Wisconsin, to Elsie (Fronk) and Emil Benish. On October 16, 1965, she married the love of her life, John Henry Clark, with whom she raised two sons.
JoAnn was devout in her Catholic faith since childhood, a dedicated member of Sacred Hearts Church in Sun Prairie from the time she and John moved there in 1969. Those who knew her were blessed by her compassion, generous spirit, and kind heart. She was an inspiration in her love without judgment and her service to others. She worked at Colonial Club Senior Activity Center for 21 years, where she was loved and appreciated by both her coworkers and clients. In addition, she facilitated a support group for Alzheimers Caregivers and was a member of the Sacred Hearts Folk Choir.
JoAnn is survived and sorely missed by her devoted husband, John; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas & Anne and Andrew & Andrea; grandchildren: Eric (fiancée, Emma), Nora, Everett, and Olivia; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen & Butch Nale; brother-in-law, Larry Joseph; and nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie & Emil Benish, and a sister, Marcella Joseph.
A memorial and celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 25th at Sacred Hearts, 221 Columbus St. in Sun Prairie, with visitation at 9:30 AM and a service at 11:00. Interment will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 26th at White City Cemetery (formerly Bohemian Brotherhood Cemetery) in Hillsboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, Sacred Hearts (https://pushpay.com/g/sacredheartsofjesusandmary), or a local food pantry.
