Jo Ann Burnell

Jo Ann Burnell Madison Wis - Jo Ann Burnell, age 84, of Madison, passed away peacefully at home following a long illness with family by her side on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022. Jo was born in Madison, WI on July 2, 1937 to Vivian Lane and John Weinman. Jo loved rolling skating, children, reading, politics, meeting people from different parts of the world, had an infinite love for animals, as well as watching old movies, her favorite being Gone with the Wind. With her stepfather in the Coast Guard and later her husband in the Airforce, Jo had traveled across much of the country and prided herself in having memorized all the capitols of all the states. Over the years she held numerous jobs, her most recent being a door greeter at Walmart which many would remember her from. Jo was proceeded in death by her husband, Richard W. Burnell, her mother, Vivian Hart, and her stepfather, Edgar Hart. Jo is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Blons, son, Richard S. Burnell, daughter-in-law, Beatrice Burnell and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private services will be held in celebration of Jo's life on July 2, 2022. Jo's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of St. Croix Hospice for their wonderfully compassionate supportive care.
