Jeffrey Shapiro

November 20, 1949 — December 17, 2025

Jeffrey Jon ‘Igor’ Shapiro, 76, of Albany, Wis., passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, after a valiant battle with cancer on Dec. 17, 2025, at Waunakee Valley Senior Living.

Jeff was born on November 20, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa, to parents Sherman Shapiro and Adeline (Ophime) Shapiro. He was raised in Madison, Wis., and attended East High School. Being the firstborn son of his family, he grew up to be a hard-working, dependable man who valued honesty and simplicity.

Jeff worked as an Assembler of Refrigerators at Sub-Zero Refrigerator Co. for over 30 years. His nickname at Sub-Zero was ‘Igor’, because of his comedic love for the movie Young Frankenstein.

He retired at the age of 63 and lived out his retirement enjoying life’s simple pleasures. He loved thrifting, gardening, fishing, camping, and most of all, good food. Jeff was known for his light-hearted approach to life, and he always knew how to make someone laugh with one of his go-to jokes.

Though he often kept to himself, Jeff had loved deeply, spoken honestly and always had an appreciation for the small things in life. He will be remembered for his steady presence and gentle sense of humor. He especially loved his kitties, Red and Lady.

Jeff is survived by his children, daughter Jennifer Shapiro and son Craig Shapiro; his granddaughter Paige Shapiro; and his sisters Cheryl Amborn, Jeanne Shapiro Williams, and Kari Daly (Dennis); his brothers Dennis Shapiro and Marc Shapiro. Jeff is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Shapiro and Adeline (Ophime) Shapiro; his sister-in-law, Judi Shapiro; brother-in-law, Ted Williams; brother-in-law Harland Amborn.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agrace Hospice and the Waunakee Valley Senior Living staff for their assistance to Jeff and his family during this difficult time.

There will not be any funeral services held. A memorial service will be determined by the family for a later date.
