Jane Holly (Blumberg) Johnson, age 65, of Madison, was called to heaven on March 29th, 2024, at her assisted living facility in Madison, WI. Holly was born November 29th,1958, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Stanley and Shirley (Maxfield) Blumberg.
Holly spent part of her childhood growing up in Ohio and Illinois before moving to Wisconsin Dells, WI, in 1969. During her childhood, Holly and her friend, Julie, loved torturing Holly’s brother, Marc, by secretly following him and throwing acorns at him without him knowing they were the culprits…until he reads this now.
Holly attended and graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1976, then went on to attend UW Baraboo and UW Madison to study English Literature. While in college, many of her friends learned just how well she could boogie/disco out on the dance floor into the wee hours of the morning and still tell about it to this day. Also while in college, Holly earned the name “Hollywood” from her friends due to her goofy, groovy, glamorous-like character she portrayed.
Holly was united in marriage to Dexter Johnson on May 12th, 1984, in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Soon after their wedding they moved to Madison, WI, and welcomed their son, Aaron, on September 14th, 1986. After having Aaron, Holly then created the saying “Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your kid.”
Holly worked as an Account Specialist in the Financial Administration department with the University of Wisconsin System, and made many friends while working there. She enjoyed numerous company outings, laughs, and practical jokes with the team. Holly made a lasting impression on all of them, with her hard work and bubbly personality they will always remember.
Holly loved God, her son, Aaron, her two “grand-angels”, Alexia and Aiden, the rest of her family, her friends, the color red, dark chocolate, butter, cats, and “Buk Buk.” Her brother, Marc, used to harass her with “Buk Buk,” which is his hand in the form of an obnoxious speaking mouth. Holly maintained that his hand drove her nuts, but we secretly know she loved “Buk Buk” dearly.
Holly is survived by her son, Aaron (Amanda) Johnson of DeForest, WI; her two grandchildren, Alexia and Aiden Johnson; her brother, Marc (Doris) Blumberg of Wisconsin Dells, WI; nephews, Nathaniel (Alicia) Blumberg of Portage, WI and Nick (Yang) Blumberg of Alhambra, CA; niece, Melissa (Derrick) Rohwer of Wyocena, WI; and many more cousins, other relatives, former co-workers, and friends.
Holly was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Shirley Blumberg.
Per Holly’s wishes, there will be no formal wake or funeral, but instead a celebration of her life on May 4th, 2024 from 1-3 PM at the Cornerstone Community Center at 505 North Main Street, in DeForest, WI.
We want to conclude with three things that Holly always told her son, Aaron, to do every day, “count your blessings, be safe, be happy, or at least try your darnedest to do so.”
