James Richard Crawford, lovingly known as "Cowboy Jim", passed away on May 27,2026, at the age of 69 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim's greatest accomplishment was the family he built and loved. When he began dating Rita, he not only found the love of his life but also embraced the opportunity to become a father. He gave his daughter, Breezy Rich, a sense of security, love, and belonging. After he and Rita married, he officially adopted her as his own, a bond that remained special throughout his life.

Together, Jim and Rita built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family, which grew even more with the arrival of their sons, Travis and Lenny. Many of his happiest moments were spent in the garage with Travis, Lenny and his nephews Casey Hanson and James Hanson, whom he loved as his own, and Mike Grell, his best friend and "Favorite Brother". He leaves behind nine grandchildren and a great-grandson on the way.

Jim was especially proud of the families his children built and appreciated Seth, Raychel, and Heather. Known as "Cowboy Jim" to family and friends, he dedicated 27 years to the Mcfarland School District. Jim had a lifelong passion for fishing, hunting, and caring for the land. His work as a groundskeeper earned national recognition, including the prestigious George Toma Golden Rake Award.

Jim and Rita spent their years together, touching countless live through their kindness and generosity. Through his years with the school district, Jim become much more than a groundskeeper; he was a father figure and friend to many.

Bobby, Ralph, Teri, and Christopher held a special place in Jim and Rita's hearts as their foster family, while Bill, Donna, Marty, Jessica, and Helen became cherished members of their extended family.
