Gerald Carl Larsen

Jan 22, 1957 — Jul 7, 2026

Gerald “Jerry” Carl Larsen, aged 69, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in Janesville.

Jerry was born on January 22, 1957, in Granite City, IL, to Carl S. Larsen and Judith “Judy” (Rogers) Jones. Despite being born in Illinois, Jerry made it known that he was a New York resident due to his father’s military assignment at the time of his birth. He proudly served as an MP in the Marine Corps from 1978 to 1981.

Known for his great sense of humor and ability to talk to anyone, Jerry was able to make anyone feel welcomed and heard up to his death. He was an avid hunter who loved his trips to the Vaughn cabin, where he spent quality time with his sons, and his extended family. Jerry had an overwhelming love for his family and was the highlight of family functions, making sure everyone knew how much love he had for them. Jerry believed in the wise words of Vince Lombardi, "God, Family, and the Green Bay Packers". Jerry was an avid Packers fan and thankfully was alive for all 4 Super Bowl wins or 7 of the 13 NFL Championships and he would gladly let you know they are one and the same. Though Jerry was not a member of a direct congregation, his love for God was unwavering. He relied on that faith to help him in his battle with Parkinson's and other health issues.

Jerry is survived by his two sons, Kyle (Brian Warson) and Carl Larsen; three granddaughters, Megan Larsen (Dylan Blum), Lauren, and Kailyn Larsen; two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Oaklynn Blum, as well as his siblings Debbie (Randy Kurtz), Linda (Terry Vaughn), and Curtis (Nance) Larsen, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl S. Larsen, Judy and Donald (Scott) “Pa” Jones, his grandparents on all sides, and several aunts and uncles.

A private celebration of life will be held on July 18.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Mercy Hospital, Bristol Hospice, and St. Elizabeth Nursing Home.
