Gary Eugene Stendel

January 7, 1960 — January 27, 2022

Gary “Bo” Eugene Stendel age 62 from Prairie Du Sac Wisconsin passed away January 27, 2022 at St. Mary’s Palliative Care Unit in Madison WI from complications of COPD. No funeral services are planned at this time. Gary was born January 7, 1960 in Beloit, WI the son of Loretta June Stendel and Arthur Roy Champlin. Gary was raised by his single mother, and they spent many years living in Beloit and Marshfield Wi. Gary had ambitions of joining the army but since he was deaf in his right ear he did not qualify. He enjoyed watching the television show M.A.S.H. and as a child loved playing with army men. Gary worked odd jobs, did farm work, and had seasonal employment during his younger years before being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Eventually he had to go on disability due to his condition. He moved back to southern Wisconsin and settled into his favorite place to live which was the Washington Street apartments in Prairie du Sac. Gary was a simple and private man but ironically a people person at the same time. He was easy to talk with and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed talking to family on the phone and was a Hallmark card guy. He spared no cost for beautiful and meaningful cards to give the special people in his life for holidays and birthdays. Gary is survived by his beautiful daughter Asia (Crow) Krueger and her husband Hayden, his social worker and good friend Jackie Wolf, siblings Jennifer (Bender) Elmhorst and her husband Earl and Craig Bender and his fiancé Cynara Howard, as well as many nieces and nephews. Gary’s mother Loretta preceded him in death. Gary will be forever grateful for the love and care his daughter received from her adoptive parents Chuck and Pam Crow. Gary knew and loved Jesus. In his own words before passing Gary said, “the ship has come to take me to heaven”. We know Gary is spending eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ.
