Gary (Bub) Edward Schmidt

Gary (Bub) Edward Schmidt, age 79, passed away in his home on Friday May 29th, 2026 in Madison, WI. Born on January 25, 1947 to parents Edward and Arlene, Gary spent his years living a selfless life, welcoming all humans and animals that needed a friend or family. Gary was a lover of sports, especially softball, football, and hunting. After retiring from the agricultural business, Gary still loved being in the country and working with his hands. He was a hard-worker, strong, kind, and funny. He will be dearly missed.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Toby (Russ) Bowers and Nikki (Vic) Perez and his son Khi (Britney) McCreary; granddaughters Kacey and Aspen, grandsons River and Ryder; brothers Barry (Mary) Schmidt, Gerald Schmidt; sisters Cheryl DeBell, Kristin Schmidt, Patricia (Keith) Sagert, and Shelly Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Crystal, brothers Larry and Ricky, sister Theresa, and nephew Kyle.
