Frances Marie Kocal (Turowski), 97, passed away on November 26, 2024 at Agrace Hospice, Fitchburg, WI. She was born on October 8, 1927 in North Chicago, IL to Anton and Teodora (Wroblewski) Turowski.

Frances was a graduate of Holy Rosary School and Waukegan Township High School. She remained in contact with her classmates throughout her life and hosted many annual gatherings at her home with them.

On April 19, 1947 she married John Stanley Kocal at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago, IL. The couple had 4 children; James Thomas (Alyce), Joseph Anthony (Michelle), Patricia Louise (Michael Hodnik), Dorothy Ann (Chuck Miller).

Fran began working at Pfanstiehl Labs following her high school graduation and continued working there for 48 years until her retirement when she was 65. She was an active member of Most Blessed Trinity (Queen of Peace) Church, Catholic Women’s Club, North Chicago Woman’s club, American Business Women’s Association, Foss Park Seniors, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Throughout her years she volunteered on many fund raisers for her children and the many clubs she participated in.

Frances leaves behind her children Jim, Joe and Dorothy; her two grandchildren Joshua Miller (Haley) and Madison Miller (Cristian DeLeon), one great grandson Sebastian DeLeon, three step grandsons, Todd (Julie) Templen, Craig Templen, and Roderick (Bethany) Templen, step great grandsons Devin Hill and Chase Templen, step great granddaughters Lydia, Hilary, and Olivia Templen, one step great, great grandson Karl Hill and many special nieces and nephews.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her daughter Patricia, her brothers Edward (Ed), Chester (Chet) and Eugene (Gene) Turowski and her sister Marie Bush.

Fran was known for always remembering her numerous family and friends with cards for every occasion. And for her lifelong love of the Cubs (even after she moved to Wisconsin).

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
