Eric Paul Mayer

August 23, 1957 — October 18, 2025

Eric Paul Mayer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 68. He was born on August 23, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to William and Adelaide (Gerkhardt) Mayer. Eric's life was a filled with adventure, love, and humor that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Eric's early years were spent in Hubertus, WI with family and friends near Bark Lake. Eric developed a love for the outdoors of hunting and fishing alongside his siblings William (Sue) Mayer, Robert (Carol) Mayer, Thomas (Pam) Mayer, Brian (Karen) Mayer, Patricia (Dave) Aulenbacher, Mark (Jackie) Mayer, and Rosemary Mayer.

After graduating from high school, Eric answered the call of duty and served his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Eric's work ethic and skills led him to a successful career as a machinist, where he was loved and respected by his colleagues.

Eric found his greatest joy in the company of his beloved wife of 28 years, Lisa Mayer. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Eric and Lisa spent the last 20 plus years together enjoying their farmhouse and property in Whitehall.

Eric was a devoted father of Kirk (Rebecca) Mayer and Kyle (Kelly) Mayer. Eric and Kirk spent countless hours hunting their property, dragging deer and killing beers. They also spent summers camping and fishing creating memories together. Eric passed his love for the outdoors to his grandchildren Emma, Parker, and Chase. Regular 4 wheeler rides, cannonballs in the pool and shooting practice were Grandpa Eric’s specialty. He loved them so much.

Eric was also loved and will be missed by his in laws, Randy Maertz, Christine (Christopher) Hubbard, Stan (Amy) Maertz, Kenny Maertz, and Annette Otten.

Those who knew Eric will remember him as the life of the party, a man who could light up a room with his humor and whose laughter was contagious. Whether it be the local bar or the Bunkhaus at home, there was never a dull moment when Eric was around. He also had several “2nd sons” who he shared great times with, along with many, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Eric joins his parents in heaven, along with his brother Tommy and brother-in-law Kenny J. They are probably already up to shenanigans. He remember by so many people who loved him.

As we bid farewell to Eric, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by the joy he brought to others, the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts. Rest in peace, Eric your journey here is complete, but your story will be told for generations to come.
