Eldon Lee Allison of Madison, WI passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 77.
Eldon was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa on April 22, 1947 to parents Leland and Marie Allison. The family re-located to Baraboo, WI in August of 1962 as Eldon was entering his sophomore year of high school. Eldon graduated from Baraboo Senior High School in 1965. Following high school, Eldon enlisted in the US Navy as a photographer’s mate and served until 1969. While in the navy, he attended photography school in Pensacola, Florida. After several duty stops, he served one tour in Vietnam working in the navy photo lab in Cam Ranh Bay. After his tour in Vietnam, he was stationed at Adak Naval air facility in the Aleutian islands, Alaska.
After his discharge from the navy, Eldon resided in San Francisco, California, where he worked at Moulin Studio and other locations. He was able to utilize his impressive natural artistic talents, which he inherited from his father, in his work in photography, film processing, and art. Eldon made many friends and enjoyed living in the city.
Eldon moved back to Madison, WI, in 1999 to be closer to family members. While living in Madison he worked at Screen Door printing. Eldon loved gathering with family at his brother’s home for summer barbeques and especially Christmas.
Eldon had a heart of gold and a colorful, larger than life personality. He was always true to himself and never apologized for who he was.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Marie and Leland Allison, and sister-in-law, Jonn Allison. Eldon is survived by his brother Rick (Mary) Allison of Baraboo WI; niece Casey Allison (Jared Robbins) of Middleton WI; nephew Matthew Allison of North Freedom, WI; great nephews James Allison and Andrew Robbins; cousin Gail Malven; other extended family members and many friends.
The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date. The family wishes to thank Madison Police Department, Joi Wagner with the medical examiner’s office, and Cremation Society of Madison for their assistance and support.
