On September 21, 2023, Douglas LeRoy lost his courageous battle with cancer and passed from this life to heaven with Jesus.
Doug was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on April 10, 1951, to Vernon and Rosetta (nee Drager) Rosenow. Growing up he was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, graduating from St. John’s Elementary, Watertown High School Class of 1969, and earned an Associate Degree from MATC, both the Madison and Pewaukee campuses. Doug joined the US Army and became a Forward Observer in the demilitarized zone in Vietnam in 1969. Doug was selected for Mission 44 Badger Honor Flight to Washington DC in October 2022 , and urged any eligible Veterans to apply for it. He told his story to be published later on the VA website under “My Life, My Story”. He worked over 40 years at U.S. Chemical in many positions , but enjoyed being the Training Director for 14 years the most. Doug was happily married to Judith B. Rosenow (nee Biefeld) for 42 1/2 fun and memorable years, filled with travel, both foreign and domestic, golf, plays, and movies, with Hawaii and London, England being his favorite destinations. Doug was an avid golfer, being an over 40 year member of Watertown Country Club, having his third hole-in-one 6 days before surgery. Two other highlights were the open cockpit bi-plane ride with brother Curtis and spending time in Puerto Vallarta with brother Jim and Susie. He had a great love of sports, especially Brewers, Packers, and Badgers, and was very knowledgeable of players and stats and talked for hours with friends Denny Golomski and Kirk Moon after each game. He enjoyed his beautiful rose bed and yard, and could be seen all over town on his electric bike enjoying the gardens and yards of others. Doug was know for his quick wit and sense of humor. His family was his focus and they surrounded his bedside at the Madison VA Hospital to begin the hospice process, sharing memories and loving goodbyes. He will be sorely missed.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and older brother, Joel Rosenow; along with in-laws, Jack and Darlene (nee Schmidt) Biefeld. He is survived by his wife; brother, James F. Rosenow (Susan); sister, Vernette Wuestenberg (John); brother, Curtis Rosenow (Jean); sisters-in-law: Valerie Teske (nee Biefeld) - husband, Vince, and Barbara Erl (nee Peach Biefeld) - husband John; and many loving nieces and nephews.
