Donna Buttner, 66, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Meadowmerre Assisted Living Community in Madison, Wisconsin.
Donna was born in Mauston, Wisconsin on April 22, 1954. She was the third of six children born to Rose Marguerite (Niles) and William Joseph Buttner. Donna attended grade school at St. Patrick’s in Mauston, and then graduated from Mauston Area High School in 1972. She married William “Bill” Howland on September 19, 1972 at St. Patrick’s Church in Mauston.
Donna grew up in Mauston, and then lived in northern Wisconsin for many years, first in Maple and then in Superior. She later moved to Madison, where she spent the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her mother, Rose Buttner, of Mauston, Wisconsin; by two sons, Justin Howland (Tara) of Maple, Wisconsin, and Ryan Burton (Raelaine Yaeger) of Stoughton, Wisconsin; by her brothers, Will Buttner (Trudy Saunders) of Portland, Oregon, Steve Buttner (Kathy) of Howards Point, Wisconsin, Gary Buttner (Patti) of Adams, Wisconsin, Al Buttner (Dawn) of Elroy, Wisconsin; by a sister, Kathy Gabel (Bryan) of Menominee, Michigan; and by granddaughters, Autumn Howland, Ava Howland, and Morgin Burton.
Donna was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Howland; and by her father, William J. Buttner.
Arrangements are being made by the Cremation Society of Madison. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, there will be no public ceremony.
