Dianne Vanderheyden Spellman passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the
age of 67. She is survived by her husband James, sister Pamela (Vanderheyden) Miller of
Parker, CO, mother-in-law Merle Spellman, sister-in-law Patti Kindt (James), brother-in-law
Michael Nejedlo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her
sister Patricia Nejedlo, her parents Florence (Baumgardt) and Harold Vanderheyden, and two
black and tan miniature dachshunds Daisy and Mindy.
Dianne was born, and grew up, in Waukesha, WI. She graduated from Waukesha South
Campus and eventually moved to Madison, WI where she attended the University of Wisconsin.
She worked many years in the executive assistant, marketing, management fields for various
companies in and around Madison.
Dianne was the girl of a thousand smiles. She was a warm, happy, bright, and caring wife,
daughter, sister, friend, and colleague. At the same time, she was a woman with a strong and
independent spirit.
Dianne enjoyed volunteering at Gilda's Club, as well as many professional organizations. She
loved traveling to new places near and far with her husband, spending time with her family and
friends, taking long walks around Mount Horeb, and creating her beautiful flower and vegetable
gardens.
Our hearts are so devastated with her passing. A website will be available for you to share your
photos, thoughts, and stories. A private memorial service may be planned in the future.
In lieu of flowers, please plant some flowers in her memory or work with your local first
responders to help them get the training they need to deal with critical medical emergencies.
Dianne will be missed greatly, and we will never forget the joy she brought to our lives.
