Dewey Duncan

November 20, 1970 — March 15, 2026

Dewey Duncan passed away unexpectedly due to illness on March 15, 2026. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him, yet his life leaves behind a lasting testimony of faith, quiet strength, and genuine kindness that touched countless lives.

Born on November 20, 1970. Dewey lived with a steady devotion to God, a deep love for his family, and a sincere commitment to serving others. Most recently, he worked with the Department of Corrections at the Columbia County Correctional Institute. In a setting that often demands resilience and patience, Dewey stood out for his calm presence and unwavering character. His faith was not something he spoke loudly about, it was something he lived. Both coworkers and inmates experienced the peace, respect, and stability he carried into every interaction. He was also honored for his skill and discipline through his selection to serve on the elite sniper team.

Before his time in corrections, Dewey worked at AOI and Cardinal Furniture, and he spent many years as a manager at McDonald’s. In every role, he was more than just an employee, he was a mentor. He took time with people, believed in their potential, and helped many take their first steps into the workforce. His encouragement and guidance left a mark that continues in the lives of those he invested in.

As a follower of Jesus, Dewey’s faith was the foundation of his life. He faithfully served within his church community and was a committed presence in weekly worship and prayer gatherings. His relationship with God shaped the way he loved others, with humility, consistency, and quiet compassion.

Dewey had a way of showing up for people. Whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing what he had, or simply being present during difficult moments, he could be counted on. Even the small details of his life reflected this, his carefully organized bins of tools and supplies weren’t just about preparedness; they were a reflection of his heart to care for others. He lived ready, not just with things, but with a willingness to serve whenever he was needed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn; his children, Brad (Morgan) Crawfis, Kristeena, Theresa, Cierra (Donnel), Taylor, and Shane; his grandchildren, Anthony(AJ), Mollie, Arabella, Nolan, Collin, Jayde, Jilliyn, Jaymee, Jayanna(Rosie), Maeve, and Roman; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will carry his memory forward.

A celebration of Dewey’s life will be held on April 11, 1:00pm, at the Towne of Burke Municipal building. Dewey will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life will continue. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and steady strength, a life that quietly but powerfully pointed others toward what truly matters.
