Derek Powers

McFarland, Derek Gene Powers age 44 died on November 17, 2025, as the result of a car accident.

He was born on March 5, 1981 to Gene and Sue (Casey) Powers in Madison.

Derek spent his teenage years in McFarland, working at Maple Tree Restaurant, playing baseball and soccer before graduating from McFarland High School. He attended MATC briefly, but working was what he preferred.

He worked at McDonalds, Best Buy and Southeast Unloading.

Derek had an obsession with sports and extreme metal music, both of which he had more information stored in his head than most people.

He will be missed by his parents, his sisters, Ryan Powers, and Sydney Hare, brother-in-law, Josh Hare and niece, Emberly Hare.

His large extended family of aunts and uncles, Bruce Powers, Tammy-Lynn Powers, Paul Casey, Jane (Rich) Karolczak, Chris (Nina) Casey, Kent (Dana) Casey, Andy (Deanne) Casey, Peter (Babette) Casey and Joe (Ann) Casey, and his cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother Christian, grandparents, Charles and Delores Powers and Richard and Dorothy Casey.

There will be a memorial for Derek in the spring of 2026.
