Debora Nell Birkholz-Klein, age 67, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at SSM St Mary’s Hospital in Madison, after a brief illness, surrounded by family and love. Debora was born on March 15, 1957, in Columbus, WI, the daughter of Carl and Nellie (Hayes) Birkholz.

Debora attended Fall River Schools (Fall River, WI) from kindergarten through graduation in 1975. She worked hard throughout her life until illness prevented her from doing so. Her passion was cooking where she excelled for personal and professional fulfillment. Debora was also a skilled saleswoman who sold many locals their appliances and furniture over the years.

Debora loved unconditionally and took great enjoyment entertaining family and friends with her, often unbelievable, but true, storytelling. She loved food, gardening, music, her beloved pets, political debate, and having a good time. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Debora is survived by her son, Chad (Gail) Birkholz; Chad’s children, Alex and Bronwyn Birkholz; a great-grandson, Caspian Birkholz-Gambrell; Gail’s daughters, Brianna (Chad) Yanke with son, Mason Jolly, and Abi (Michael) Gladney with son, Bentley Notbush; brothers, Martin (Michelle) Birkholz with nieces, Hannah (Brian) Stickel and Sadye (Matthew) Holbach; Louis Birkholz with niece, Sydney Birkholz and nephew, Payton Birkholz; sisters, Virginia (Kevin) Hendricks with nephew, Brett (Noelle) Hazard; Melinda (Steven) Mayhew with nephews, Brandon (Jessica) Shanks and Dillon (Kelsey) Mayhew; and great-nieces and nephews: Max Hazard, Elliott and Charlotte Holbach, Lucy and Jameson Shanks, and Benson and Briggs Stickel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Theresa.

No formal services will be held. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

A special thank you to the amazing staff at SSM St Mary’s MICU for their compassion and care of Debora the last few weeks of her life.
