David Charles Wynn

June 22, 1949 — July 19, 2025

We sadly bid farewell to our patriarch and friend of everyone he met, David Charles Wynn, 76 of Madison, who departed peacefully in his sleep on July 16, 2025. He is deeply missed by Mickey (Marcy Semon), his wife of 53 years, and daughters, Melissah ‘Muggsy’ (Steven) Foreman and Joie (Mark) Tinberg, all of Madison. David’s happiest role was as Papa to his grandchildren Nathan and Henry Foreman and Taliyah Tinberg. He was looking forward to seeing Nathan head off to The Ohio State this fall.

David was a born entertainer, successful salesman and talented artist. He graduated from Washington High (Milwaukee) and attended the Layton School of Art & Design, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Milwaukee Area Technical College. As the family muralist, there are many walls adorned with his work that will now never be repainted. He loved to make people laugh, whether it was spreading birthday cheer as a Gorilla- gram, winning in an uncontested category in a body builder contest or mastering his well-known Donald Duck impression. We will miss his insights on his FaceBook page where he recognized everyone’s milestones and accomplishments. It is said that David could walk into a room of strangers and only see a group of friends he had not yet met.

Born in Milwaukee June 22, 1949 to Meyer and Mousie (Marcella Schiewitz), he grew up in the men’s clothing trades starting at his father’s store Doherty-Lee. He was comfortable working with everyone from entertainers like Sid Caesar and Steven Tyler to the young man looking for his first Bar Mitzvah suit. David loved to work and even in semi-retirement took great satisfaction in working for Impact Life Blood Bank. He felt he was a “helper” in this world and was driven to be of service whenever someone was in need. A believer in Tikkun Olam, as a final gesture, he was an organ, bone and tissue donor.

Also missing him are his sisters Margo (Tom) Webb and Susan (Jonathan) Lipp, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a myriad of friends both new and old. Passing before him are his parents Marcella and Meyer Wynn, in-laws Beverlee and Erwin Semon, brothers-in-law Robert and Todd Semon and Tom Webb.

A celebration of David’s life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be directed in David’s name and in honor of his favorite dogs, Lilly and Sambo, to the Dane County Humane Society.
